ABOUT THE ARTIST
- Jennifer Soman is an artist specializing in Portraits, Figures, Landscapes and Architecture. She uses Oil Paints, Pastels and Pencil Drawings. She was born in Miami, FL. In high school/early college, she focused on mastering Ceramics.
- She graduated with a Bach. of Architecture degree, from Univ. of Miami. During college, Jennifer spent time living in Rome, Italy, where she studied and fell in love with Ancient/Renaissance art and architecture. She learned pastel drawings on site in Venice; freehand sketching on-site in Rome.
- Post college, Jennifer worked in architectural design firms, and took courses in: Photography, Mosaics, Furniture Painting, Decoupage, and then oil painting.
- Early paintings: her subject matter was mainly Tropical Landscapes (influenced by growing up in Miami) and Architecture (influenced by her college architectural education) with a heavy focus on bright colors. She also was inspired by travels to Italy, California, Caribbean Islands and Mexico.
- In 2006, Jennifer began attending the Art Students League of New York, and the National Academy of Fine Art in NYC, studying with many well-known artist instructors. She continues with her emphasis on Oil Paintings of the Human Figure, Portraits, Architecture and Landscapes,
